Red Velvet Curtains The idea of red velvet curtains evokes many thoughts. Softness, luxury, sensuality and even darkness come to mind thinking of luxurious drapes in a darkened room, touching them with your hand as you pass by to feel the supple fabric. Velvet has many associations in the mind. Perhaps for you it is your first Christmas dress as a little girl -- the one you begged your mother to buy you, even though she said it was too expensive. Maybe you think of those old Hollywood movies with the grand parties and ballroom dancing, and all the lovely women in their beautiful gowns. For me, I think of Scarlett O'Hara in "Gone With the Wind", taking down the gorgeous velvet curtains of Tara to create one last fantastic frock to wear as the South burned around her.
