Join me for blueberries and bagles on the deck at the lakehouse. Its the fourth of July week! Its a sunny morning and I have a lot of shadows on my breakfast table. I set the table with my nana's tablecloth from Ireland. Purple and pink teacups and a lacey purple teapot. Scattered lavendar rose petals dropped by a breeze. Lady X rose gets an invitation to the table. The lake sparkles in the morning sun. Square plates with a deep hyacyinth pattern hold court with a small bowl of berries. These plates came from a local consignment shop. Love love love purple.. Purple beaded napkin rings, purple plates,  purple teapot and teacups and a purple rose! All across the countryside the contractors are out making a second cut of the silage leaving the fields looking yellow before the grass grows once more. We've had some rain in the last few days but it has stayed warm. Looks as if we are having an early summer again. We've still got another 3 weeks at school - plenty of time for miserable weather to set in. This afternoon it was 'shuffle up' time when all the children went to meet their new class teacher and spend the afternoon in their new classrooms. We generally plan fairly relaxed afternoons so the children will look forward to returning to their new classes after the summer holidays. This evening, before getting down to more school preparation, I had a quiet time catching the sun up in the scree garden. Gautier is a design company founded in 1958. We found some really nice bedroom arrangements on their site which we hope will give you fresh decorating ideas. Most of them are simple, sober and elegant, with wooden furniture and stylish carpets to go with it. The color mix goes from mild to fresh, but the overall effect is always pleasing. You will rarely see strong colors – the green and red pillows are an exception, but with a lovely effect. Flowers and paintings make the interiors lively and also help personalizing every room. Small details and decorative items such as bottles and tea cups really manage to make a difference. We also like the floor lamps and the night stands. Enjoy!
