It should be the first thing you see in the room and something that is enjoyable to look at. For example, a pretty picture or a large window would be a good focal point. When you choose wallpapers and fabrics for your pieces in the room, you can choose coordinating colors and patterns. This gives the room a very complete look, and makes it look professional.
